Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!

Who's up for a little adventure?

There are just as many reasons for why fans like SG-1 as there are fans to watch the show.  Some watch for the action, some watch for the science fiction, and some watch for the Ship of course! It's with all of this in mind that the categories were created for the Sam and Jack awards.

One of the things we wanted to do was bring you a taste of what other fans are saying about the works you've nominated or enjoyed. Aren't you curious?

C'mere and join us on a shippy adventure.

Category : Best Adventure

Fics nominated in this category must include elements of action or adventure.

A mission to Paradise goes horribly wrong.  Sam is now missing on an island with a secret danger and her team must push themselves to the limit in order to bring her back home.

narellew68 says this story is a "wonderfully warm, edge-of-your-seat, well written yarn!"

iamdragonrider raves about Paradise Bound stating,"I enjoyed the action, the adventure, the subtle humor and the bits of masterfully woven culture and myth."

sg1faninth sums up this awesome adventure boasting that it is simply "One of the best Stargate stories I've ever read!"

Akamaimom mixes whump, angst, and adventure in this tale of Hawaiian heritage and Goa'uld pretentiousness.  Did we mention that things get blown up?  Check out Paradise Bound!

Carter and O'Neill are trapped alone in an ancient city with a horde of savage creatures after their blood.

"Oh goodness. What a story." mebeath raves, "Brilliant! You had me seriously hooked."

hedwiggins describes this borderline horror adventure as "One of my favorite stories."

And SaraBahama sums it up splendidly when she writes "...still thrilling readers! Such a well-written adventure! Teamwork, terror, alien monsters, Goau'l technology, character whump, a sprinkling of affection and angst, made for a wonderful read."

No matter if it's your first time reading it or your tenth, The Many Shades of Night will have you on the edge of your seat begging for more with every chapter.

Disaster strikes Atlantis and Carter must rise to the command Challenge - just as her boss arrives for a visit.

This is such a "Wonderful story." --Zoser

a.loquita (another one of our nominees) pins down all of the elements that combine to make this such an awesome S/J adventure.  "This was *wow* simply wonderful." She goes on to commend the author for characterizing our favorite couple and for how she "showed their struggle and inability to read each other perfectly."

northernexposure certainly brings us the Angst in this adventure. As Kedd tells us, Impact is "the perfect combination of awkwardness, longing, action, confusion, drama, and love."

If you are a lover of Samlantis adventures, this will not disappoint!

Just as the title implies, it's another Jack and Sam lost on a planet fic that's full of S/J ship, angst, and a little adventure.

They say that brevity is the soul of wit and LadyMo sums it up wonderfully when she tells us that this is a "great, great, great story."

This is one of those fics that pulls you in and doesn't let go. And when you find yourself reading the last chapter like Sequinn, you might find yourself saying "I am so sad this story has ended, it was great from beginning to end."

And speaking of being pulled in and hooked on a story, iamdkscully raves that "This is my soap opera.  I find myself checking and re-checking my e-mail for an update notice every night!"

Though the story is complete, you'll still find yourself desperately seeking chapter after chapter.  In the words of behindblueeyes1117, "Wow! I loved it...Angst, tears, joy...Thanks for this amazing story!"

Kick back with your favorite beverage, curl up in your favorite chair, and join Jack and Sam as they struggle to find what it means to go home.

One year after the events of "Reaching for Stars," Project Giza is coming to a close.  But when a Goa'uld steps through the Stargate, they are forced back into action.  Can they protect the Earth from the threats still lurking in the far reaches of the galaxy?

The next installment in her series that began with Beyond the Stars, Children is "fantastic and definitely different."  mmkbrook goes on to say that this is a "really great re-write of canon."

Such a twist on the SG-1 universe we already know and love, LoneWolfOneill describes this piece as "absolutely wonderful! Everything flows nicely and each chapter ends perfectly although leaving us wanting for more."

It's no doubt that once they start, many readers will find themselves like Nodaki who "stayed up all night to read the entire Stars series."

Find yourself immersed in a wonderful new world where nothing is as it was but everything is still perfectly SG-1.  Check out the Stars series today!

Completing the Circle - 2 Pi R by Josephine_Martin

At every decision point, a new universe is created.  Every minor change has its repercussions, some greater than others.

We all love a wonderful story, that's part of the reason why we're here.  Completing the Circle is one of those stories.  It's not often you are "captivated" by a story enough to have "read it through in an entire afternoon" like i.m. nell.

One of our other wonderful nominees, Mrs. Pollifax says the same thing about Martin's story and that it "ate a huge chunk of my day since I couldn't stop reading it."  The story has such a "wonderful, readable style that makes everything feel very real and compelling" and "great characterization true to first season Jack and Sam."

steadfast (whose interview you read in yesterday's post) exclaims "OMG, this is one of the very first Stargate stories I ever read.  It is still my favorite! I love re-reading it."

And while we're talking about exclamations, Cole J yells at the author, "No! I want MORE!  This was a very satisfying blend of canon & AU."

Exploring other worlds is SG-1's job.  Exploring alternates of that world is what writers like Josephine_Martin do best.  Take a trip to another alternate world today and check out Completing the Circle - 2 Pi R.

Elysium Xibalba by WildeRomantic

When Sam is diagnosed with cancer, Jack finds himself leading the team on an ancient and infamous quest to save her life, and he realizes that even if this quest takes him to the end of his life, at least it will mean she's at his side.

"Every once in awhile a story gets under my skin (in a good way).  This is one of them."  -- TiaRat

Fanka77 writes that this is a "wonderful story" with a "brilliant storyline and fantastic epilogue!"

A self-professed non-S/J shipper, nexis44 still tells the world that "this story Rocks!"

While VisualIdentificationZeta states with a shippy sigh "I loved it, it was beautiful and powerful and amazing and...er, I've run out of words."

Curb your curiosity, read Elysium Xibalba today and find out why these folks and many others are raving about it.
