Who are these people?

So you start reading a fic by one of your favorite authors and alongside our favorite foursome there's a new character. You don't know their name. You don't know what they do. And you find out that they are not just any new character, they are a character who plays a big role in the plotline of the story. You freeze, you pause, you debate...do I keep reading and give this "new" person a chance or do I change the page with a click of my mouse and go back to what I know?

Like all of the fiction nominated for these awards, the fiction nominated in the category of Best Original Character all have awesome storylines. What sets them apart is the addition of some great original characters who are woven so well into the tapestry of the story that you won't even remember that they are not usually a part of the SGC.

Best Original Character!

Nominations in this category can be works of any length, genre or rating. Original characters must appear in more than three scenes and have dialogue. The work is being judged on how well the author has developed an original character, not necessarily on the work as a whole.

SG1 learns firsthand about the consequences of Jack's time on Edora. Takes place between the beginning of Season 4 and Season 9. It's a team fic, really, but it is heavy with Jack-Sam early established relationship building. The story begins here and picks up later in the course of my Moonlight and Steel series.

After seventeen weeks of torture in a Goa'uld prison, Samantha Carter is rescued by SG-1. In the time that follows she must relearn how to relate to her team, reassess her relationships with both herself and others, and decide whether or not she'll continue to step through the Stargate. Luckily she's got the benefit of a good psychologist and the love of a great man.

General O'Neill's secretary can't quite figure out what's wrong with her new boss. Written in exchange for another awesome video from Devilish Me on Gateworld.

Alternate realities are old news for SG-1. So is time travel. But when half of the team steps onto an Earth that's not only not theirs, but thirty years in the future, old news suddenly means not fully informed. With that Earth all but destroyed by an enemy more devastating than they've ever imagined, hope lies within a young scientist who simply wants to forget. They say there's no place like home. But between battling aliens, memories, tomatoes, math that just won't make sense, and the occasional zombie...will they ever get there? Or will they find a way to make this scorched Earth their home?
