One of the most popular ways for people to jump into fanfiction - both reading and writing - is the ever-present episode tag.  Tags allow fans to speculate on what may have happened after the credits rolled.  The Sam/Jack ship is no stranger to this format.  Since the early episodes the fandom has been speculating about exactly what may have transpired between the officers once the screen faded to black.
