Mirror, mirror, mirror... which is the fairest reality of them all?

We're back with more fork in the road stuff! As all you loyal Stargate: SG-1 fans know, there is an infinite number of ever-growing alternate realities, each existing and evolving concurrently with our own, according to the multiverse theory of quantum physics. Basically, anything that can happen will happen, if not in this reality then in another. So, while our Sam and Jack decided to follow the regs, an alternate version of them from a parallel reality might not - fork in the road stuff!

Earlier this week we highlighted a few nominations that dealt with alternate realities and in the next post you can see some more. So, get geared up and don't forget to pick up the quantum mirror's remote before you step through!

Men Ship Too? An Interview with a Nominator...

Want to know what's keeping this amazing fandom going and keeping the awards committee on their toes?

It's all of you, of course! Without awesome fans to promote the work of other awesome fans, this whole awards process would be pointless.

With that in mind, today we offer you some insight into the mind of someone we don't often get to hear about...the male shipper! What's that? You didn't know that there are guys out there with fluffy feelings and angsty ambitions? Think again!

Down the Rabbit Hole

When it comes to fanfiction, everyone has their favorite genres. However, it can't be denied that Alternate Reality (often mistakenly called AU) is very popular. And how can it not be when it covers many different ways for our favorite characters to get together, from quantum mirrors to non-existing frat regs?


With a category so popular, it is not surprising that there are a lot of nominations already. Today, we'll take take you down the rabbit hole and visit worlds that are just slightly different from the canon we know and love by highlighting a selection of nominated stories.

Category: Best Alternate Reality

AR fics are defined as stories that start in an Alternate Reality (i.e. it has Doctor Carter), are clearly set in an alternate reality as they do not follow canon ( i.e. established relationship, or events that happen at the wrong time), or interact with other realities via the quantum mirror or Stargate anomalies.

For this installment we're bringing you an article on Sal R (also known in fandom as Sally Reeve and to the rest of the world as published author Sally Malcolm) - an institution in the Sam/Jack fandom.

We recently highlighted several fanfiction nominations from the Adventure category.  But, we have so many great nominees that we couldn't bring all of them to you in one post!  

So, change into your BDUs, grab your tac vest and your P90, because we're stepping through the gate to find alien planets, crashed ships, strange artifacts, missing stargates, and yes, we really are off to see the wizard.

These awards are most certainly a group effort!  Our committee is constantly going above and beyond what even we think might be possible.

We've also had a huge amount of support from the fandom.  As many of you might be aware, we're desperately seeking some lost nominees.  Thanks to GateWorld member JanSam, we've been able to strike quite a few names off our list!

We've named her our unofficial Private Eye!  So, thank you, JanSam!  We really couldn't have done some of this without you.
