Ogle This!

We've all seen pics and gifs that grab our hearts, make us laugh, or just stop us in our tracks for their angst and beauty.  We'd all be unable to get our fix if it weren't for the wonderful artists who spend their free time creating these homages to our favorite couple.

Sit back, relax and prepare to be dazzeled as we share some of the Sam and Jack awards wonderful nominees in the world of Art.

Chuck Lorre has nothing on fandom

One of the most popular ways for people to jump into fanfiction - both reading and writing - is the ever-present episode tag.  Tags allow fans to speculate on what may have happened after the credits rolled.  The Sam/Jack ship is no stranger to this format.  Since the early episodes the fandom has been speculating about exactly what may have transpired between the officers once the screen faded to black.

As we showcase our nominees, here's some of the things readers are saying about a few of the Best Tag nominees:

We're still looking for a LOT of nominees!

If you or someone you know is on this list, we have nominations waiting to be accepted.  Please contact us (or have the author contact us) at nominations[at]samandjackawards[dot]com.

If you're on this list but you've already accepted a nomination, please get in touch with us anyway.  It means we've received one or more additional nominations since we've last spoken with you or we've inadvertently misplaced your acceptance.

Please spread the word via whatever social media platform(s) you use.  All nominations must be made, processed and accepted by August 31, 2014.

The complete list of missing nominees is after the jump.

Obviously, the time continuum has been disrupted.

One of the favorite conventions in science fiction is time travel.  In the Stargate Universe we were given several possible modes of time travel: the Stargate interacting with solar flares, time machines, even time dilation fields.  Fanfiction authors, in true fashion, have capitalized on both the canon time travel episodes as well as new time travel opportunities for the team.

Here we'll highlight three of the nominees for Best Alternate Timeline.

Nominated and Nominating...an interview with akachankami

A self-professed lurker on Gateworld, akachankami learned of the Sam and Jack awards when one of her shipper friends tweeted about it.  She loved the idea of the awards and was excited to talk to us about why she made her nomination and why she continues to help keep the ship alive as a vidder herself.

"I meant to say it was a great video, but I fainted on my keyboard..."

Derivative works are difficult enough to write let alone to completely re-purpose someone else's edited video to create your own spin on well-loved characters; and yet, that's exactly what our incredibly talented vidders do.  Angst has always been one of the most popular emotions to portray, so it's no big surprise that the genre has bled into fan-made videos.

Here are several of our nominees for Best Angst in the Video medium.

Mirror, mirror, mirror... which is the fairest reality of them all?

We're back with more fork in the road stuff! As all you loyal Stargate: SG-1 fans know, there is an infinite number of ever-growing alternate realities, each existing and evolving concurrently with our own, according to the multiverse theory of quantum physics. Basically, anything that can happen will happen, if not in this reality then in another. So, while our Sam and Jack decided to follow the regs, an alternate version of them from a parallel reality might not - fork in the road stuff!

Earlier this week we highlighted a few nominations that dealt with alternate realities and in the next post you can see some more. So, get geared up and don't forget to pick up the quantum mirror's remote before you step through!
